If anyone ever took your logo and that beautiful image of the girl in the center, then I would be with you to sue them for all they have, as that is your work, just like is your content.

First, without diving into legal caveats or long explanations about licenses and copyright, I changed my footer.
As already said, all I want to do is to keep the value of my ideas (I dont’ even need to copyright them ).

Everything published on this site is CC licensed, as it’s always been. So you can do what you want with my JS and my tutorial, as long as you credit me.

For the rest, I already said that you can do whatever you like.
If you make something that really looks the same as Jek2k.com, you know, I won’t be that happy.
But my frustration doesn’t mean you cannot do it.
This is the point: I don’t want to ever suit nobody for copying or taking away parts of my work. And I don’t want to put strong copyrights to protect my work.

All I’ve always been talking about is good old common sense, a little bit of respect and a positive behaviour.

I have to admit that I’m not that good at keeping a positive behaviour on this topic, because I put so much energy in what I do, that I really feel robbed when I see my ideas taken and used elsewhere.

I also believe that you didn’t need to find license and copyright excuses.
You could just ask: “If you don’t want me to make a copy of your so called theme, can you help developing a brand new theme, so we can put our skills together and share the result with the community?”
That would have sound better and my answer would have been radically different.

Is basically VOID as you cannot copyright something to which is a modifyed version of which was under a different license. The truth hurts, sorry. But there is no getting away from it you rock! Your design is amazing, be happy! Why would people go to so much trouble to get something similar is it was awful, you have created a modifyed version of Hemingway that is absolutely amazing!

Also if I do ever get round to creating my version of this layout using your javascript, you can be I will credit you at least once on every page for the inspiration Nicolò.

I already stated that Hemingway is free, what is not free is my customization of Hemingway.

the only thing is though, while you are using hemingway, this is in state:

“Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the “Software”), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions:

Which basically means it’s free for anyone, and you have to of agreed to the above, as you are still using large chunks of hemingway.. so you can’t really do much about people if they copyed the style / layout.

the only thing you could do, is if people used your textual content and images, which are your own work i assume, but whilst the template is hemingway, you can’t do anything.. have a nice day

Maybe I’m just a dreamer, but I strongly believe that if everybody puts passion and motivation and turns inspiration into new, fresh creativity, this will be the real progress for us all.

Copying does not produce anything new. It kills progress and decreases the value of websites. If they all look the same, no one will stand out.

I appreciate your reply and point of view on my question, I also understand what you mean, and I assume you have had quite a few emails off people then as you feel very strongly about it. So first off sorry for being another person asking you once again what seems to be the same question!

So would you mind if people integrated your code into their own hemingway installations? e.g. their own images and code etc, but using your published JS.
